Itinerary
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 – Overseas travel to
Venice, Italy.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 – Arrive at Venice Airport. You will be met by a Maritime Travel representative at the international arrivals area. From there, you will be provided a transfer to our hotel in Venice. The balance of the afternoon is yours to rest and rejuvenate. Later this evening we will meet up with Charline at one of her favorite restaurants and enjoy a welcome dinner with wine as we get to know our travelling companions. To bed early this evening to rest up for our adventure ahead. D
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 - Following breakfast at our hotel, we will pick up our transfer to Tronchetto, where we will board our private water launch, which will take us to Piazza San Marco for our walking tour of Venice. You will see the Piazza San Marco, the Basilica San Marco, and the Doges Palace which you will have time to visit later in the day if you wish. This afternoon, join us for a visit to the island of Burano, known for its fishermen and lace-makers. There will be time for lunch on your own, and to explore this lovely island before we head back to San Marco and some more free in time in Venice. We will make our own way back to our hotel. Supper and the balance of the evening will be on your own. Be sure to get some great suggestions from Charline, or perhaps join her! B
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1 - Today we depart Venice and head for San Casciano in Val Di Pesa, where we will stay at the Villa il Poggiale. This historical Tuscan Villa will be our home for the next two nights. Once we have settled in, you will have time to explore the property and later on this afternoon we will meet for a wine tasting and have a typical 4 course meal of Tuscan specialties BLD
MONDAY, OCTOBER 2 - After a leisurely breakfast we will participate in a private cooking class where we will master some of the secrets of Italian cuisine. Once we have enjoyed the fruits of our labour, the balance of the day and evening is left to enjoy the dolce vita in Tuscany. Maybe a dip in the pool pr a glass of wine on a terrace... or maybe both. B
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3 - Following breakfast, we will travel to Florence. We will meet our local guide for a short walking tour, including the Piazza Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza della Siggnoria. B
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4 - Make sure you eat a good breakfast, as this will be our shopping day in Florence. Charline will point you in the right direction and highlight some of the best places for the best prices. Leather, silk, jewelry, shoe stores, handbags, clothing - you will be overwhelmed. You can also visit Michelangelo’s David or the famous Uffizi museum. B
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5 - Our centrally located hotel makes it easy to enjoy another free day exploring the wonderful city of Florence. Meet for supper at Charline’s favorite trattoria. BD
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6 – Today we travel from Florence to Gubbio with our arrival just in time for a light lunch. The balance of your day is free. Gubbio one of the most beautiful Medieval towns in Umbria known for its ceramics and for having been a frequent haunt of St Francis of Assisi. BL
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7 – Onwards to Rome! After checking into our hotel we will meet our local guide for a walking tour of Rome, including Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. We will enjoy a light lunch before continuing with our guide to unearth more of what Rome has to offer. Tonight , we gather together for a fabulous Roman meal at one of Charline’s favourite restaurants. BLD
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8 – There are so many things you can do to fill your free day in Rome. Why not toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain or tour the Colosseum. The choices are endless! B
MONDAY, OCTOBER 9 - This morning we say goodbye to Rome, and make our way to the Amalfi Coast. En route we will visit the fascinating preserved remains of Herculaneum – sister city to Pompeii. Though not as well known, the remnants of this civilization are said to be better preserved than those of Pompeii. We will enjoy a private, guided tour. We will then arrive in the town of Amalfi and check in to our hotel. The balance of the day is free for you to enjoy and explore on your own. B
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10 & WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11 - These are fabulous free days for you to explore and experience the stunning Amalfi coast. After breakfast each day, get some insider tips from Charline… Go to Ravello, or Positano or Capri (an easy boat ride away), or just sit back on your own and enjoy the lovely beach across the street from the hotel. Charline has lots of suggestions and tips to point you in the right direction as the possibilities are endless. Wednesday evening, we will meet up for a farewell dinner and toast our new friends and many amazing experiences. BD
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12 - After breakfast, we will say farewell to the Amalfi Coast and Italy and make our way to Naples Airport to catch our flight back home. B
