TUES. SEPT. 19: Fly Air Canada #1565 (5:45 PM) Moncton to
Montreal. And #802 Montreal to Dublin.
WED. SEPT. 20: Arrive in Dublin 8:30 AM. Meet driver/guide
Brian Rice. See city highlights while driving to ‘Kilkenny
Shops’ where you purchase brunch. Yum… European
pastries! Visit St Patrick’s Cathedral with all its splendour
and history. Tour Guinness Storehouse (state of the art
museum/brewery tour) and have a fabulous sky view of the
city. Enjoy National Museum of Ireland treasures and the
Art Gallery. The rest of the day is yours to meander, shop,
explore, relax along Grafton Street, St Stephen’s Green,
Temple Bar, National archives… wherever you wish. Rest
well in hotel RIU GRESHAM, DUBLIN.
THURS. SEPT. 21: Drive to Howth, Phoenix Park, and more.
History tour of Glasnevin Cemetery. The remainder of the
day you are at your leisure. If you want to buy individual
tour admission to another venue (Kilmainham Gaol, Trinity
College, Epic Center, Dublin’s Writer’s Museum) we can
help you to arrange it. Tonight, a treat… “Celtic Nights”
DINNER & SHOW TOGETHER at Arlington Hotel.
FRI. SEPT. 22: Drive SW to Carlow. Today you have two
options to choose from: (A) Canoe/Kayak the peaceful
Barrow River (w Mary Anne) from Borris Village. Paddle past
Closhastia Castle (c.1590), Ballykeenan Cut canal, drop
down two levels at the double lock in the gorge, go by old
growth pines, verdant green pastures and granite cliffs.
Wind around monastic Graignamanagh, and the 9-arch
bridge and a weir. Take out near Duiske Castle, (Glass), and
Cushendale Woolen Mills. (2 hours total). (B) Drive to
Jerpoint Abbey, demo with border collie dogs herding
sheep. The shepherd is hilarious! Tour the 12th century
medieval Lost Town of Newport (and St. Nicholas’ tomb)
which was discovered by the owners in the brush about 25
years ago. Enter the old church ruins. The town was
abandoned in the 1600’s and Mr. and Mrs. O’Connell give it
life.
Groups A and B join and go thru Co. Kilkenny and Co.
Waterford. Once in Youghal, we are in Co. Cork, and we
proceed to our hotel. Swim? DINNER TOGETHER at
MARYBOROUGH HOTEL & SPA, CORK CITY.
SAT. SEPT. 23: Tour a variety of Southwest Cork towns of
ancestral interest to passengers onboard. Stops to be
determined and timed according to genealogy links. Return
to Cork. Pub food? Dream at MARYBOROUGH HOTEL & SPA
in CORK CITY.
SUN. SEPT. 24: See Cork! Tour the renowned Butter
Museum. See cathedrals, River Lee, the English Market,
quays, bridges, Blackrock Castle observatory, pubs, parks
and monuments. There’s much to absorb in this old city!
Drive to Macroom and on to picturesque KILLARNEY LAKE
HOTEL in Co. Kerry. Have DINNER TOGETHER in their
gorgeous dining room with a view. HELLO KILLARNEY!
MON. SEPT. 25: Drive in the exhilarating, majestic Wild
Atlantic Way to the Dingle Peninsula! Make sightseeing
stops at medieval cone-shaped beehive stone houses (as in
Star Wars, The Last Jedi) and landscapes with beauty in all
directions. Return and enjoy a well-deserved rest in
KILLARNEY LAKE HOTEL, KILLARNEY.
TUES. SEPT. 26: Go north. Coffee in the adorable village of
Adare? On we travel to historic Limerick and then head to
the coast… visit the incredible Cliffs of Moher. We leave for
friendly Galway and stroll on the cobbled streets. Shop a
little. CORRIB RIVER DINNER & SHOW CRUISE TOGETHER.
Sleep well so you can be up early to watch the sun come up
on Galway Bay. VICTORIA HOTEL, GALWAY.
WED. SEPT. 27: Drive by ‘the fields of Athenry’ then visit
Strokestown Famine Museum in Co Roscommon. You will
go North to Sligo (Shippegan immigrants), see monument
at Rosses Point, thru Mullaghmore, on to beautiful Co.
Donegal to stay in RADISSON, LETTERKENNY.
THURS. SEPT. 28: Enter the UK (Northern Ireland) and learn
about the Troubles with Brian’s tour of Derry’s city walls.
Walk the path to visit World Heritage site, Giant’s
Causeway. Next, we visit the world-famous Titanic
Museum—you will feel as though you are part of the crew
of RMS Titanic. See MA for genealogy sites in Belfast.
Belfast’s oldest pub (Crown Liquor Saloon) is close to our
hotel, HOLIDAY INN, BELFAST.
FRI. SEPT. 29: Cross the North Channel by ferry to
Cairnryan, Scotland. Head North to the Highlands. Tour Ben
Nevis distillery and stay at BEN NEVIS HOTEL, FORT
WILLIAM.
SAT. SEPT. 30: Drive North thru the region of the filming of
Harry Potter. This is Bonnie Prince Charlie country. Take a
cruise on Loch Ness!!! Relax at BEST WESTERN LOCHARDIL
in INVERNESS.
SUN. OCT. 1: Walk the Battlefields of Culloden, visit Clava
Cairns (Game of Thrones), browse and shop in Inverness.
Rest well at BEST WESTERN LOCHARDIL, INVERNESS.
MON. OCT. 2: Drive southwards to Edinburgh. Stop in
Pitlochry. See The Kelpies in Falkirk. Tour history steeped
and treasure-filled Edinburgh Castle. Hotel TBA,
EDINBURGH.
TUES. OCT. 3: Fly from Edinburgh (9:am), Air Canada #807
to Toronto. #1502 Toronto to Moncton (Arrive 6:11 PM /
10:11 PM Scotland time)
