About This Trip:
This active program involves a moderate level of physical activity. However, you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and slopes. When visiting Machu Picchu, prescriptions are required for walking sticks to be allowed at the Machu Picchu archaeological site and must be rubbed tipped.

Please be aware that guests in a group may transfer separately between cities, depending on the availability of domestic flights. Additionally, there might be adjustments to the itinerary to ensure smooth travel in accordance with flight schedules. These measures are taken to enhance the overall journey experience for everyone involved.

Itinerary

Day 1 • May 25:

North America to Lima
Enjoy the overnight flight, you will be arriving in Lima the next morning. Bienvenidos!

Day 2 • May 26:

Lima Embark on a city tour of Lima with its 2,000 years of history. Begin with the colonial centre of the city, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its historical buildings surrounding the splendid Plaza Mayor. And the 16th-century Cathedral of Lima whose first stone was laid by Pizarro. Optional Tours: Afternoon Museo Larco Tour (CAD$84/person) The Museo Larco is housed in an 18th century viceroyalty mansion. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, the Museo Larco permanent exhibition invites visitors to explore the more than 5000-year history of ancient Peru, through a fascinating collection of pre-Columbian art. Evening Optional Magic Water and Fountains of Lima (CAD$67/person) In a lush 19-acre nature reserve on the outskirts of Miraflores, Magic Water and Fountain Show is one of the most popular attractions in the city. Overnight in Lima.

Day 3 • May 27:

Day 4 • May 28: Lima- Puerto Maldonado- Amazon Jungle (B, L, D)

Today take the flight to the frontier town of Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival, meet your tour guide, transfer to the jungle lodge nestled in Amazon rainforest, immerse yourself in the jungle’s sights and sounds. Overnight at the Amazon Lodge.

Day 5 • May 29: Amazon Jungle (B, L, D)

Prepare for an exciting jungle adventure! After breakfast, start a rainforest walk in the vicinity of the Amazon lodge. Also, you will embark on a motorized canoe ride with your naturalist guide along the river or lake. You may enjoy breathtaking views, spot unique flora and fauna, like toucans and monkeys. And encounter jungle wildlife if you’re lucky. Learn about river ecosystems and nocturnal animals, then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 • May 30: Puerto Maldonado-Cusco- Awana kancha – Pisac Market-Sacred Valley (B)

Depart the lodge this morning after an early breakfast. You will be taken from the port to the airport. Departure to Cusco (35-minute flight), then meet and greet by your tour guide upon arrival in Cusco. To avoid altitude sickness, we drive down to the Sacred Inca Valley (2,000m). On-route we visit an indigenous Alpaca and Llama coop-farm. After a tasty Quinoa lunch, take a scenic drive to Pisac Village. There, explore the town and bargain with vendors on the cobblestone streets of the Pisac handicraft market. Enjoy a cultural blast as the entire town has been converted into a street market. Afterward, continue to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. Overnight in Sacred Valley.

Day 7 • May 31: Scared Valley – Machu Picchu Village (B)

Enjoy your free leisure in the morning. Optional Tour: Maras & Moray Tour (CAD $98/person) Begin at Moray, showcasing Incan agricultural expertise with terraced circular depressions used to study crop conditions. Witness local farmers and shepherds in action. Next, visit the Maras salt mines, where saline spring water feeds terraced pans. Salt has been collected here for centuries. Return to the hotel. At noon, transfer to Ollanta Station in the Sacred Valley and board the Inca Rail Train to Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known as “The Lost City of the Incas.” Register at a nearby hotel. The town center offers dining, shops, the Mercado Artesanal craft market, Los Jardines de Mandor gardens, and the Butterfly House conservation project. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Machu Picchu Village.

Day 8 • June 1: Machu Picchu – Cusco (B)

This morning, transfer to the Machu Picchu entrance, then you will have a guided walking tour of the sanctuary. Machu Picchu was built circa 1450 and abandoned only 100 years later. The purpose of this splendid city is still a mystery to modern historians. Enjoy exploring the ancient citadel and marveling at the imposing Temple of the Sun, the House of the Priest, the Sacred Plaza and the intricately carved rock likely used as a sundial by the ancient Incas. The images of this significant archaeological site will be a long-lasting memory. You may choose to have the Optional Peruvian Buffet in Machu Picchu Village (US$30) for lunch. Take the train to Ollantaytambo Station and then transfer back to your hotel. Overnight in Cusco.

Day 9 • June 2: Sacsayhuaman – Imperial Cusco – San Blas Neighborhood (B)

This morning, explore Sacsayhuaman, known for its remarkable Inca ruins and megalithic stone walls showcasing Inca engineering. Its name likely means “Royal Eagle” in Quechua. Then, uncover Cuzco, the former Inca capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, blending Incan and Spanish history. Walk the well-crafted Incan roads, starting from the central Plaza, and visit the Colonial Cathedral housing 400+ Cusqueña School paintings and colonial art. Lastly, see the Temple of the Sun, famed for its golden-covered walls and floors. Overnight in Cusco.

Day 10 • June 3: Cusco – La Ruta Del Sol – Puno (B, L)

Today, depart in the early morning, get on a coach ride along the breathtaking Ruta Del Sol to Lake Titicaca. “La Ruta Del Sol” which translates to “The Route of the Sun” in English. On-route we visit Andahuaylillas 3,093m, Raqchi 3,450m, La Raya Pass 4,335m and the Pukara Museum 3,990m. Lake Titicaca is the largest lake in South America by volume and is often referred to as the highest navigable lake in the world. It sits at an elevation of approximately 3,812 meters (12,507 feet) above sea level and holds great cultural significance, especially for the indigenous people of the region, including the Uros, Aymara, and Quechua communities. It is often considered the birthplace of the Inca civilization. In the evening, transfer to hotel overnight in Puno in Lake Titicaca.

Day 11 • June 4: Uros Floating Islands (B)

Today explore the Lake Titicaca waterways and the floating Uros Islands. The unusual 40-plus floating Uros Islands are the most photographed attractions on Lake Titicaca. The Uros people are known for their unique way of life on the lake. They live on artificial islands made of totora reeds, which grow abundantly in Lake Titicaca. These floating islands are built and constantly maintained by adding new layers of reeds. Learn about the way of life of the ancient Aymara people, then Navigation back to the Puno docks. Enjoy your free leisure in the afternoon. Overnight in Puno.

Day 12 • June 5: Lake Titicaca – Juliaca – Lima (B)
