Valentin Imperial Maya - Mayan Riviera Mexico

Year: 2012

The Valentin Imperial Maya is a stunning adults-only 5-star resort located just 20 minutes from the Cancun airport.  Each room is a little palace with its own terrace or balcony, a seating area with sofa and coffee table, a desk, and a table with two big comfy chairs.  The bathrooms are luxurious with a jetted tub, glassed shower enclosure and the toilet in its own little room with a glass door.  The entire room is marble.  There's a mini-fridge restocked daily with water, soda and beer and a coffee maker too.  Food was good, and no reservations are required at the restaurants.  For a fee of $50, you can reserve a shaded chaise on the beach for 3 days...for that fee,  you also receive a bottle of wine and a dinner at the lobster restaurant (the only one not included on the all-inclusive plan). However, if you didn't want to pay that fee, it was very difficult to find a seat at the beach, in the shade.  The resort is situated on a small point so there's a beach on each side...one with nice white sand, the other had a coral shelf right at the waters edge so made it difficult to get in....very nice for sunbathing though.  You will see all kinds of 'critters' at this resort.  A small group of coatimundi's made the rounds each morning, and the jungle surrounding the resort was alive with agouti paca's, iguana's of every size and a million different birds.  Our favorite was a Ferruginous pygmy owl nesting on our terrace.
