Russia- Moscow-St Petersburg River Cruise

Year: 2013

Sailed on the MS Litinov- May 31-Jun 9.
Spent 2 nights in Moscow- sightseeing motor coach tour of this ancient Russian capital, including Tverskaya St, Red Square, St Basil's Cathedral, Bolshois Theatre and Moscow State University.  Also toured the Kremlin which was originally a fortress and is comprised of cathedrals, ornate palaces and government buildings
Stopped in Uglich- a 10th century town- one of Russia's most ancient where we visited their Kremlin and the 16th century Church of the Transformation.
Visited the Cyrilo-Belozersky Monastery in Goritsy.
Toured the island of Kizhi- famous for its collection of 18th century wooden buildings- the highlight being the Church of the Transfiguations with 22 onion domes that was built without a single nail.
On to the River Village which is a recreational stop deisgned purely as a stop for the river cruises.
Spent 2 nights in St Petersburg- toured the city- Nefsky Prospect, Palace Square and Smolny Convent, visited the many wonders of the Winter Palace which houses The Hermitage Museum, went to Swan Lake (ballet), did a canal boat tour.
