United Kingdom Entry Requirements

Below are the entry requirements for the United Kingdom. Please note these are fluid and can change with little notice. Please see above and note the “last updated” date. You will also find a link(s) to the most up-to-date information which we encourage you to review the week prior to travel. The following information applies to those with a Canadian passport and who are fully vaccinated. If this does not apply to you, please contact your Travel Advisor.

Most travelers from Canada with proof of full COVID-19 vaccination can enter United Kingdom, but there are restrictions.

No proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results required for vaccinated travellers
Fully vaccinated travellers do not need a negative COVID-19 test result to enter the UK. Travellers are considered fully vaccinated when they have been vaccinated by an approved vaccine administered by an approved authority.

Mandatory COVID-19 testing on arrival for vaccinated travelers
Travellers from Canada with a vaccination certificate recognized by the UK must book a travel test package prior to travel to be tested on or before day 2 after arrival. Fully vaccinated travellers must book a COVID-19 PCR for their ‘on arrival’ test.

Details and exemptions
This requirement does not apply to:
-Travellers aged 4 years and younger;
-Travellers from the CTA (Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Ireland, Channel Islands) and who have been there in the past 10 days;
-Travellers with a medical condition that means they cannot take a test, must present a note from a medical practitioner at check-in and to Border Force staff on arrival.

Mandatory quarantine for vaccinated travellers
Travellers with vaccination certificates recognized by the UK arriving from Canada are required to quarantine at their accommodation in England until receiving negative results of their day 2 test.

Travellers departing from Canadian airports require proof of vaccination
Travellers departing from Canadian airports, rail, and passengers vessels on voyages of 24 hours or more need to be fully vaccinated in order to board. This requirement applies to international and domestic departures. Fully vaccinated travellers must have received a full course of vaccination with an accepted vaccine. The accepted 2 dose vaccines are Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria, COVISHIELD), Sinopharm, Sinovac (CoronaVac, PiCoVacc), or Covaxin, and the accepted 1 dose vaccine is Janssen/Johnson & Johnson. Travellers that have received a combination of 2 accepted vaccines are considered fully vaccinated. Travellers must have received their last dose at least 14 days before departure. Travellers must print, complete, and carry the indicated attestation form with them.

Mandatory proof of vaccination
Travellers may prove they have received all doses of a vaccine using one of the below methods: -Vaccination certificate issued by NHS; -Vaccination certificate approved by the WHO EUL (Sinovac, Sinopharm, Covaxin); -Vaccination certificates issued in EU countries or Switzerland with vaccines approved by the EMA; -Vaccination certificates issued in the USA with vaccines approved by the FDA; -Vaccination certificates issued from a relevant public health authority in Canada (see 148 additional countries) . Mixing between two-dose vaccines (Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna) is also recognized. Please check the source for more details. Travellers who cannot present a vaccination certificate under this criteria must follow the testing and quarantine rules for unvaccinated travellers. Travellers are considered fully vaccinated if they have had the final dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before the arrival date in the UK.

-Travellers under the age of 18 who are residents in the UK or a country or territory which has approved proof of vaccination.

Mandatory COVID-19 testing package
Travellers from Canada must book a COVID-19 testing package before their arrival in the UK. -Vaccinated travellers are required to take a single test on or before day 2 after arrival; -Unvaccinated travellers are required to take a test on or before day 2 after arrival, and on or before day 8 after arrival. Lateral flow tests are not accepted. Travellers must arrange to take COVID-19 PCR tests. Travellers staying in the UK for less than 2 or 8 days are still required to book the tests, even if they will no longer be in the UK on the dates of the tests. They only need to take the tests if they’re still in the country on those dates. Travellers may use a provider recommended by the UK government or use a provider of their choice while ensuring the test meets the outlined requirements. Travellers that test positive will be required to quarantine for 10-days.

• Travelers aged 4 years and younger for England;
• Travelers under the age of 11 for Scotland;
• Jobs that qualify for travel exemptions such as aircraft pilots and crew, diplomatic missions, port workers, and many others;
• Travelers from the CTA (Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Ireland, Channel Islands) and who have been there in the past 10 days.

Mandatory passenger locator form
Travellers, including some transit passengers, are required to complete a public health passenger locator form online before departure to the UK. The form must be submitted a maximum of 48 hours before arrival in the UK. Travellers must show either a printed copy or an online copy of the form on their phone at the UK border.

Travelers do not have to fill out the form if they’re traveling from one of the following places, and they were there for 14 days or more:
• Ireland;
• The Channel Islands;
• The Isle of Man;
• United Kingdom.

Travellers transiting through England who are not required to pass through UK border control are exempt from this requirement.

Masks are recommended in public
Travellers are required to wear masks in public transportation and crowded and indoor public places where social distancing can not be maintained such as shops, malls, post offices, banks, galleries, and others.
